First of all, what is a stereogram? A stereogram is a 2D picture, which hides a 3D image behind it.
There are three main steps in the process of stereograms' creation:
■ Step 1 - creating or importing of a depth map. Usually the depth map is a grey-scale picture of the 3D object, that shows how deep each part of the scene is (dark shades - distant areas, lighter shades - nearer areas).
■ Step 2 - creating or importing a texture. The texture is a repeating pattern, used for "covering" the real picture behind a mosaic.
■ Step 3 - creating the stereogram (also known as SIRDS, SIS etc.).
